I just bought this today so I can't speak to longterm performance, sensitivity to cooking. But I wanted to say that I actually bought this BECAUSE of the low review that was made. I was looking for a battery operated CO detector and was bummed when I read the app description saying this was a plug-in. But then I saw the review the docked it for not being as described. And it's true, it is battery operated. The app is what is wrong though - nowhere on the packaging does it say that it is plug in. So I am very happy with my purchase and it's a great price for both. Easy installation for the smoke detector and love that there's no battery to replace - it's supposed to be good for 10 years.
Carbon monoxide alarm is battery only. Description states it plugs into any standard outlet.
